Present Progressive:

 
Present progressive - the action is in progress and there are two parts: the verb estar (which is conjugated) and the present participle or gerund (-ando, -iendo):

ar =    estar + …ando

er and ..ir    =   estar + iendo

 
Some spelling changes in the present participle

The verb venir goes to  viniendo (not veniendo)

If you have 2 vowels together the i goes to a y  

       traer = trayendo   leer = leyendo   oír = oyendo     creer = creyendo


Verbs that have –go in the Yo Form:

 
decir  = to say, to tell   yo digo, dices, dice, decimos, decís, dicen

oír  = to hear   yo oigo, oyes, oye, oímos, oís, oyen

hacer = to do    yo hago, haces, hace, hacemos, hacéis, hacen

poner = to put, to place   yo pongo. pones, pone,  ponemos, ponéis, ponen

traer = to bring    yo traigo, traes, trae, traemos, traéis, traen

caer = to fall   yo caigo, caes, cae, caemos, caéis, caen

salir = to leave, exit   yo salgo, sales, sale, salimos, salís, salen

venir = to come    yo vengo, vienes, viene, venimos, venís, vienen

tener = to have   yo tengo, tienes, tiene, tenemos, tenéis, tienen

 

Expressions with Hacer:

Hacer un viaje = viajar (to take a trip, to travel)

Hacer la maleta (to pack your suitcase)

Hacer la cama  (to make the bed)

Hacer buen, mal tiempo (it is good or bad weather)

 

Expressions with tener:

Tener sueño (to be sleepy)

Tener  hambre (to be hungry)

Tener sed (to be thirsty)

Tener miedo (to be afraid)

Tener cuidado (to be careful)

Tener años (someone’s age)
